The main official salary benchmark in Argentina is RIPTE: the average taxable salary of employees whom the employer has declared continuously for the last 13 months, in the private and public sectors. It is calculated from employers' declarations in the SIPA system. July 2026: ARS 1,946,028 a month; January 2026: ARS 1,646,344. Caveats: this is the amount before deductions, and take-home pay is lower by the employee's contributions; it is an average, not a median, so high salaries pull it up; informal workers and the self-employed are not included, so the average across all working people is lower. The authors themselves warn that RIPTE is an indicator for pension calculations and shows wage growth imprecisely. It is published with a delay of up to 45 days. Since 5 January 2026 Camuzzi has reopened connection requests (factibilidad) in Bariloche and in more than 25 other localities of the Cordillera; before that, new connections were closed. According to the consumer organization Codec (ANBariloche, 6 January 2026), about 5,000 families had been waiting more than four years for gas. The connection procedure: a licensed installer, a design for the internal network, a Camuzzi inspection, then the meter. On 31 July 2026 the Río Negro government, the municipality and Camuzzi signed an agreement to extend the network: the first stage covers the neighborhoods 2 de Abril, El Maitén, Mirador del Chalhuaco, Quimey Ruca III and 111 Viviendas, about a thousand residents. The mayor said that many families still heat with firewood. Before renting or buying a house, ask Camuzzi about the address: whether there is a network on the street and whether it can be connected.

Naturalisation on the ordinary basis is available after 2 years of continuous and lawful residence immediately before applying (Ley 346, art. 2). The 2025 reform (DNU 366/2025, art. 37) added that continuity means not a single trip abroad during the whole period, and moved the granting of citizenship from federal judges to the migration service. In 2026 courts declared this part of the reform invalid: the Civil and Commercial Chamber on 18.06.2026 (Volosh case), the National Electoral Chamber on 30.06.2026 (Yang case), and the federal court of Esquel on 26.08.2026 (articles 4, 37 and 39 of the decree). Citizenship applications are again heard by federal judges, and the previous wording of the law contains no direct ban on trips abroad. The government announced it will appeal to the Supreme Court; as of 04.10.2026 we found no Supreme Court decision, so which rule on trips abroad will stand is still unknown.

The weak point is electricity: without a UPS or a generator, internet and water disappear with the power. A scheme: fibre, Starlink on a separate WAN, mobile coverage from a second operator.
SpecialistCooperativa 16 de Octubre — electricity and water in Esquel and Trevelin · 2 Sep 2026
details
The main point of failure for remote work outside the city is not the provider but electricity: if the ONT, router, Starlink and the pump all sit on one supply without a UPS or generator, then when the power goes out, internet and water disappear at once. A working scheme is fibre as the main channel, Starlink on a separate WAN, and a second operator's mobile connection as a third channel.
